Guest artist Cleon Peterson

February 03, 2008

Guest artist Cleon Peterson is an LA-based graphic artist and painter who happens to work at Studio Number One. I’ve know Cleon since 96 or 97 when we were both living in San Diego and he was one of the most sought after illustrators in the skateboard business. Cleon has designed logos and graphics for Foundation Skateboards, Pig Wheels, and Zero Skateboards to name a few. I hired Cleon for various freelance projects in San Diego and he even went postering with me some. A few years later Cleon got a design degree from Art Center, and then a Masters from Cranbrook. He offered to help design my monograph “Supply and Demand” and was so good we brought him into Studio Number One full time. -Shepard

The featured screen print is from Cleon’s most recent body of work which focuses on multi-panel installations of obscure but anxiety-ridden scenes of anonymous death and violence. The poster is 4 color and an edition of 100. There are only 38 available for sale on obeygiant.com. The print is $50. Cleon has shown at New Image Art in Los Angeles and Deitch Projects in New York. Cleon is also featured in the current issue of Juxtapoz. For information on Cleon’s fine art go to newimageart.com
