The Brinksman I

Cleon Peterson’s art depicts an anxiety-riddled world where chaos is the inevitable order of things and violence is the status quo. The work is an evocation of ‘Thomas Hobbes’ description of life as “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” The Brinksman I and II portray the absolute breakdown of social order, resulting in the end with man turning on himself.
